Bai Tang's expression turned slightly cold. It seemed some people really couldn't stay patient and were ready to make a move against her.
"Miss, these days, I'll stick with you, just in case."
Bai Tang smiled and shook her head. "No need. I actually want to see who's so eager to act!"
Bai Wu was still worried, but seeing Bai Tang's demeanor, he could only nod in the end. Now, he could only protect her in secret, hoping nothing would go wrong.
The next day, Bai Tang arrived at the meeting spot she had arranged with Sheng Qi. As she got out of the car and was about to enter the shop, someone coming out bumped into her. She stumbled back two steps before steadying herself.
Before she could look at the person who bumped into her, she heard a voice tinged with apology: "Sorry, sorry."
Bai Tang lifted her eyes and focused on the woman with long hair in front of her. Seeing her full of remorse, Bai Tang shook her head. "It's fine."
With that, she stepped aside to go in, but noticed the woman's eyes widen instantly when she saw her, as if in shock or surprise. It seemed hard to believe.
"You—" the woman spoke, her voice trembling slightly.
Bai Tang turned sideways to look at her and asked, "Do we know each other?"
The woman said nothing, just stared at her with a strange expression.
"Bai Tang?" the woman said softly, with a hint of uncertainty.
Bai Tang was even more puzzled. "Who are you?"
The woman seemed to snap back to reality, then shook her head, abruptly let go of Bai Tang, turned, and quickly walked away.
Bai Tang found it odd. Who was that? She didn't seem to know this person. Maybe it was someone from before.
Bai Tang didn't dwell on it and turned to go inside.
In a nearby car, the woman from earlier stared blankly in her direction.
"Miss, what's wrong?" the driver asked.
After a moment, the woman came to and said to the driver, "Have them investigate the identity of that girl just now."
"Yes."
Bai Tang reached the private room, where Sheng Qi and Ouyang were already waiting. Seeing her enter, Ouyang was visibly excited, immediately standing up to look at her.
Bai Tang smiled, then walked over and sat down beside Sheng Qi. Sheng Qi glanced at her subtly, a hint of softness in his eyes.
"Miss Bai," Ouyang said, his voice a bit emotional.
"Mr. Ouyang, may I ask why you wanted to see me today?" Bai Tang cut straight to the point, not beating around the bush. After all, she was hoping to finish up and then enjoy some time alone with Sheng Qi. Having a third wheel like this was really annoying!
Ouyang spoke excitedly, "Who taught you to race?"
"Self-taught," Bai Tang said with a smile.
Ouyang: "..."
Who was she kidding? Did she think he was that easy to fool?
Ouyang looked at her and continued, "In that race with me, your moves—who taught you?"
"Self-taught!" Bai Tang smiled again. "Why don't you believe me?"
"Since you don't believe my answer, why keep asking? Isn't that a waste of time?"
Seeing the smile on Bai Tang's lips, Ouyang couldn't help frowning. Clearly, she didn't seem inclined to talk much with him.
Ouyang couldn't help turning to look at Sheng Qi, hoping he would help persuade her. But he saw Sheng Qi ignoring his gaze, calmly moving the snacks on the table toward Bai Tang's spot.
